The Italian Amalfi Coast has quickly become a hotspot for tourism. This has never really been on my list of places to visit, but I can see why there are so many people who want to visit these unique towns.

Getting there
Getting to Positano is not exactly an easy journey. We took about a 3 hour flight into Naples then took a 2 hour packed train ride to Sorrento which is a nearby town. We then had to wait 1 hour for a bus that felt like it may never show up. After 1 hour bus ride, we finally arrived in the town which was technically the fastest way to get there.

What to do?
The beautiful scenery is the main attraction here. It’s great because the views truly never get old. Other than admiring the town’s beauty, most of your time will be spent shopping and eating. Which is not a bad way to spend a vacation although if you get bored easily, this may not be the place for you.

Stairs, Stairs and Stairs
Since these towns are built into the side of mountains and cliffs, the only way to get around is by stairs. It was clear that many people were not ready for the amount of climbing that was involved in visiting a town like this. To be honest, I wasn’t either. We quickly learned that all the pasta and pizza you will enjoy here you’re going to have to earn. Also, I’d recommend not bringing a large suitcase unless you’re ready to carry it up hundreds of stairs. We saw a few couples on their honeymoons who didn’t realize they signed up for a workout.

Other than that, visiting Positano was a once in a lifetime experience and truly felt like a movie set at times. If you’re ready to sit back and enjoy a view, this is the place for you.
